The Plateau State chapter of the Renewed Hope Youth Engagement (RHYE) has been officially inaugurated, with Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang pledging his administration’s support for initiatives that promote youth empowerment, leadership development and active participation in governance.
The inauguration, held on Wednesday in Jos, brought together government officials, leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), youth organisations, women groups, students and supporters from across the 17 local government areas of the state.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Josephine Piyo, Governor Mutfwang described the Renewed Hope Youth Engagement as a platform that aligns with his administration’s commitment to youth inclusion, innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainable development.
He said the inauguration represented more than the unveiling of a political structure, describing it as a shared vision that recognises young people as indispensable partners in nation-building.
“I congratulate the national leadership of the Renewed Hope Youth Engagement, the Plateau State Coordinator, Mr. Wilson Manji, and every member of the coordination team for their commitment to mobilising young people around the ideals of responsible citizenship, patriotism and constructive engagement,” the governor said.
He urged members of the newly inaugurated coordinating unit to distinguish themselves through integrity, innovation, inclusiveness and selfless service.
“Let your activities go beyond political mobilisation and become a catalyst for leadership development, civic education and meaningful community engagement,” he added.
Governor Mutfwang reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting programmes that create opportunities for young people, stressing that Plateau’s future depends largely on the success and productivity of its youthful population.
He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for placing youth development at the centre of the Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that sustainable national development can only be achieved through the active participation of young people.
Earlier, the Plateau State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Youth Engagement, Wilson Manji, expressed confidence that President Tinubu would receive overwhelming support from Plateau voters in the 2027 presidential election.
“You know what happened in 2023, but 2027 is going to be different. We are going to play a very significant role as we move ahead. Plateau people will deliver the desired votes for President Tinubu,” he said.
Manji encouraged young people across the state to embrace the Renewed Hope Agenda and actively participate in programmes that promote peace, development and good governance, describing youths as critical stakeholders in Nigeria’s democratic future.
Also speaking, Plateau State Renewed Hope Ambassador and Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Agenda, Hon. Ernest Abner Da’a, defended the economic reforms of the Tinubu administration, including the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market.
He acknowledged that the reforms initially brought hardship but argued that they had increased revenues available to both the Federal Government and state governments for infrastructure and development projects.
According to him, ongoing projects such as the reconstruction of the Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe Highway, the student loan programme, improved welfare for members of the Armed Forces and increased investor confidence are among the achievements of the administration.
Abner called on members of APC support groups to remain united ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“We have one mission, one party, one message and one mobilisation framework. Every candidate of our party deserves our support. We must put aside divisions and work together for victory,” he said.
Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Plateau State and Chairman of Wase Local Government Council, Alhaji Hamisu Anani, assured participants that local government chairmen would intensify grassroots mobilisation in support of the Renewed Hope movement.
National Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Youth Engagement, Hon. Abdulazeez Abubakar Kaka, said President Tinubu’s economic reforms had strengthened the financial capacity of state governments through increased allocations, enabling greater investment in infrastructure and development.
He urged the newly inaugurated Plateau leadership to sustain engagement with youths, students, women, traditional rulers and political stakeholders in building a formidable grassroots structure ahead of the 2027 elections.
The inauguration underscored the group’s focus on youth mobilisation, civic participation and grassroots engagement, while highlighting renewed calls for collaboration between government and young people in advancing development across Plateau State.
