Dakur, a former commissioner in the state, made this known during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Kerang District, his hometown, where he consulted with elders, youth leaders, women groups, and political associates on his political direction.

Addressing the gathering, the aspirant said his decision to leave the APC was driven by the need to pursue a people-oriented vision focused on inclusiveness, sincerity, and effective governance.

He reiterated his commitment to providing purposeful leadership, noting that his ambition is anchored on restoring hope, strengthening institutions, and rebuilding public confidence in governance across Plateau State.

“My ambition is rooted in the desire to bring purposeful leadership and sustainable development to Plateau State. We must work together to restore confidence in governance and ensure that every part of the state feels the impact of good leadership,” he said.

Dakur, popularly known as the “Captain of the Plateau Faith Project,” also called for unity among citizens, stressing that peace, harmony, and collective responsibility are essential for the state’s progress. He urged residents to move beyond ethnic and political divides and embrace a shared vision for security, prosperity, and equal opportunities.

Stakeholders at the meeting commended his leadership qualities, recalling his tenure as commissioner as impactful and result-oriented. They noted his track record in service delivery, transparency, and grassroots engagement, which they said strengthened confidence in his capacity to lead.

The stakeholders further expressed support for his ambition, describing his defection and renewed political drive as a bold step toward providing alternative leadership in the state.

In a related development, Dakur visited Mangu Local Government Area, where he paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Da. Y.M. Dapan, offering prayers for the repose of the deceased and comfort for the bereaved family.
