Popular Sports Broadcaster Temisan Okomi Dies After Brief Illness

Popular Nigerian sports broadcaster, Temisan Okomi, has died following a brief illness.

His employer, Classic FM Nigeria, confirmed his passing in a statement shared on social media on Friday, April 17.

“With the heaviest of hearts, we regret to announce the passing of one of our staff, Temisan Okomi, following a brief illness. Until his passing, Temisan was the Group Head of the Sports Department. He was a valued member of our team whose contributions and presence will be deeply missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this most difficult time,” the statement read.

Okomi, who spent over 12 years with the station, was widely respected for his contributions to sports broadcasting and his role in shaping the station’s sports content.

He was a graduate of Agronomy and Crop Science from University of Uyo before transitioning into a career in journalism.

He is survived by his wife, Veronica, and their three sons.
