A coalition of stakeholders, youth leaders, ward coordinators, and supporters of the All Progressives Congress in Plateau State has called on the party’s National Chairman and National Working Committee (NWC) to immediately publish the names of members of the electoral committees assigned to conduct the forthcoming governorship and State House of Assembly primaries in the state.

The group, operating under the platform “Concerned APC Stakeholders for Electoral Transparency in Plateau State,” made the demand after consultations among party members in Jos.

The coalition said the publication of committee members was necessary to ensure transparency, credibility, and strict compliance with the APC Constitution and operational guidelines.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Coordinator Yilji B. John stated that the demand was aimed at strengthening internal democracy and preventing disputes that could arise after the primaries.

“We are not opposing the party leadership. We are only demanding transparency and strict compliance with the APC Constitution. Plateau APC cannot afford another round of conflicting figures, parallel announcements, and post-election disputes,” he said.

The coalition referenced the controversies that trailed the recent House of Representatives primaries in the state and warned against a repeat of what it described as confusion and unauthorized announcements.

According to the group, only officials constitutionally appointed by the National Working Committee have the authority to conduct the primaries and officially declare results.

The stakeholders cited provisions of the APC Constitution and the party’s operational guidelines, insisting that the names of committee members must be publicly announced before the commencement of the elections.

The coalition also stressed that failure to disclose the identities of committee members could create legal grounds for aggrieved aspirants to challenge the outcome of the primaries in court.

It further called on the party to immediately organize the mandatory pre-primary stakeholders’ interactive session involving aspirants, security agencies, and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The group maintained that the requested measures were necessary to safeguard the integrity of the party, strengthen confidence among members, and ensure peaceful and credible primaries in Plateau State.

The statement was jointly signed by Yilji B. John, Coordinator of the group, and Abdulahi Adamu Shendam, Secretary of the coalition.
