Popular Nigerian TikToker, Olumide John Ogunsanwo, widely known as Seaking, was on Thursday, September 11, 2025, arraigned before a Lagos State Magistrate Court in Ogba on a two-count charge of conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace.
The charges stemmed from a December 18, 2024, video posted on his TikTok handle, Seaking 303, in which he allegedly incited Nigerian youths to attack police officers who attempted to stop or search their mobile phones.
One of the counts read:
“That you, OGUNSANWO OLUMIDE JOHN aka SeaKing, … did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of the peace by sending an online video … and called on Nigerian youth and members of the public to beat up or throw stones at any police officer who stops and/or demands to check their phones, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 168(d)(2) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.”
Ogunsanwo pleaded not guilty to both counts.
His counsel, human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong, urged the court to allow the defendant to continue on his existing bail, noting that he had been consistent with court appearances and that the offences were “simple” in nature.
The prosecutor did not oppose the application, and the presiding magistrate granted the request, allowing Seaking to remain on his previous bail conditions.
It will be recalled that Ogunsanwo was first arrested in December 2024 by the Nigeria Police Force for alleged treason over the same video.
The case has been adjourned to December 17, 2025, for trial.
