Nigerian singer Peter Okoye has responded to criticism following his decision to change his birthday date.
The artiste had earlier announced via his X handle that he would no longer celebrate his birthday on November 18, a date he shares with his twin brother, Paul Okoye, opting instead for November 30.
The move sparked reactions online, with some fans linking it to the longstanding rift between the brothers since the split of their former music group, P-Square.
Responding to the backlash, Peter dismissed the criticism, questioning why his personal decision had generated such strong reactions.
In a post on X, he wrote in part: “Una dey vex like say I cancel Christmas? Na my birthday date I move… no be your own, why e dey pain you?”
He also compared the debate to ongoing discussions about the actual birth date of Jesus Christ, suggesting that people often argue over such matters unnecessarily.
Peter further stated that criticism would not affect his success, urging critics to focus on more pressing issues.
