Actor-turned-politician Kenneth Okonkwo has said that any presidential aspirant who leaves the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition after failing to secure its ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections would be “compromised” and working in favour of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Okonkwo made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television, where he addressed speculation that former presidential candidate Peter Obi might exit the ADC coalition if he does not emerge as its flagbearer.

Responding to the question, Okonkwo argued that such a move would amount to abandoning the coalition’s political structure.

“If he leaves, will he now be a mobile squatter? Anybody in the ADC presidential race seeing what everyone is going through and leaves for another party is a mobile squatter and is working for Tinubu,” he said.

He further stated that any aspirant who exits the coalition would be “compromised,” insisting that such actions would indirectly support the re-election agenda of the president.

“Anybody that goes out of the coalition is compromised and is working for Tinubu. Whoever that person is,” he added.

The remarks have added to ongoing political debate surrounding coalition-building efforts and alignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
