Presidential media aide Dada Olusegun has responded to criticisms over the handling of the recent abduction of students and teachers in Oyo State, insisting that President Bola Tinubu has not denied the incident and has taken full responsibility for it.

Olusegun made the clarification while reacting to a social media exchange on X (formerly Twitter), where a user resurfaced an old tweet credited to Tinubu during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, in which he stated that responsibility for national security ultimately rests with the President.

The user had argued that the current administration was attempting to shift blame to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde over the abduction incident, comparing it to the Chibok schoolgirls kidnapping under the Jonathan administration.

Responding to the claim, Olusegun maintained that the comparison was unfair and that the Tinubu administration had been transparent in acknowledging the incident.

“Unlike Goodluck Jonathan, my boss has taken full responsibility for the incident and has never denied it happened,” he stated.

The exchange has continued to generate reactions online, with Nigerians divided over interpretations of the federal government’s role in addressing the security situation and coordinating responses to mass abductions across the country.
