The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has pledged to assist Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, in securing the removal of his name from Nigeria’s wanted list.

Igboho was declared wanted after the Department of State Services (DSS) raided his Ibadan residence in July 2021, where a cache of arms was reportedly discovered. Following the incident, he appealed to the Ooni to intervene with the Federal Government on his behalf.

Speaking at his palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State, over the weekend, the Ooni assured Igboho of his support and said he had forgiven him for previously making disparaging remarks against him.

“I am not angry with you because I am the father of all. You are a brave man and our pride in Yorubaland, and you will not die young,” Oba Ogunwusi said.

“We are going to ensure that your name is removed from the wanted list. Ile-Ife is the source of the universe, and no one wants peace and the development of Yorubaland more than I do,” he added.

The monarch also expressed gratitude to God for sparing Igboho’s life during his ordeal, describing him as an important figure in the Yoruba struggle.
