Onyinyechi Basil, representing Anambra State, has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2025.
The 25-year-old beauty queen emerged winner of the national pageant after outshining 21 other contestants at the grand finale held on Saturday evening in Lagos State. She succeeds the 2024 titleholder, Chidimma Adetishina.
In her first remarks after receiving the crown, Basil said: “I want young girls to know that they can achieve more, and still celebrate their cultural identity.”
Her victory means she will represent Nigeria at the Miss Universe 2025 world stage, according to Daily Post.
The competition also produced three runners-up: Miss Lagos, Damilola Bolarinde (first runner-up); Miss Bayelsa, Fortune Kurobo (second runner-up); and Miss Ogun, Irene Ikediashi (third runner-up).
