Nigerian troops have neutralised 69 terrorists, rescued more than 360 kidnapped victims and arrested 49 suspects during operations across multiple theatres in the country over the past week.
The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, disclosed the figures while giving an update on ongoing military operations. He also confirmed that one soldier was killed in action while another sustained injuries.
In operations against crude oil theft, troops dismantled three illegal refinery sites and recovered about 251,600 litres of stolen crude oil.
In the North-East, troops under Operation Hadin Kai foiled an attempted abduction along the Buratai-Kamuya Road and rescued 31 civilians. Clearance operations in Gwoza also led to the rescue of four hostages who had reportedly been held since 2023.
Troops further rescued 18-year-old Blessing Tuggur, who was allegedly abducted in November 2025, in Askira Uba. Several suspected logistics suppliers and informants were also arrested.
In the North-West, Operation Fansan Yamma troops intercepted 21 suspects in Kaduna, with five identified terrorists handed over to the Department of State Services (DSS). Airstrikes in Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State also targeted terrorist gatherings and destroyed logistics.
In the North-Central region, Operation Savanna Shield troops rescued 308 abducted victims, mainly women and children, from Kainji Lake National Park. Meanwhile, Operation Whirl Stroke troops dismantled the hideout of a terrorist leader known as “Full Fire” in Benue State and arrested suspected arms dealers.
In the Niger Delta, Operation Delta Safe troops rescued 11 kidnapped travellers along the Lagos-Benin Road, while Operation Delta Sentinel recovered more than 250,000 litres of stolen crude oil in Rivers and Delta states.
In the South-East, Operation UDO KA troops arrested key suspects allegedly linked to a deadly May ambush, including Albert Tony, also known as Chiboy; Temple Eburua, alias Marathon; and Vitalis Eburua, alias Onowu.
A militant leader known as “Comedy” also surrendered a cache of weapons in Imo State, while troops in Enugu arrested five suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and recovered heavy weapons.
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, commended troops across the various theatres for their discipline, resilience and commitment to defending the country.
