The projects, inaugurated on December 23, 2025, are designed to provide potable water and basic healthcare services to Fungzai and eight other beneficiary communities—Ser, Mpil, Nanbum, Kubon, Dungpet, Dung’kyam, Kubat, and Timnanle.

Speaking at the event, the Project Facilitator, Rear Admiral Habila Dunku Zakaria, Director of Transformation at the Defence Headquarters, described the initiative as more than the commissioning of physical structures, but a step towards securing the health, dignity and wellbeing of rural communities, particularly women, children and the elderly.

According to him, the boreholes will ensure access to clean drinking water, while the community health post will serve as a first line of defence for disease prevention, health education, routine check-ups and treatment of common ailments such as malaria, as well as immunisation services for children.

Rear Admiral Zakaria explained that the intervention was part of the CNS Quick Impact Project aimed at strengthening civil–military cooperation and winning the hearts and minds of host communities. He urged residents to take ownership of the facilities by protecting them against vandalism and ensuring proper use, while charging health workers posted to the centre to serve with empathy, professionalism and commitment.

He noted that the Quick Impact Projects, introduced in 2024, align with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the Navy’s civil–military cooperation mandate.
