While addressing the people in Jos, Governor Abdulrazaq extended the condolences of the NGF and lauded the swift interventions of security agencies, which he said helped to prevent further escalation of the crisis.

“On behalf of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and the people of our states, I bring you sincere words of condolences on the unfortunate events in which many of our compatriots have lost their lives,” he said.

He called on leaders and influencers across all sectors in Plateau to support Governor Caleb Mutfwang in fostering unity and sustainable peace, urging all stakeholders, including youth leaders, to speak out against violence and promote dialogue.

“Sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace. Plateau State holds enormous potential, especially in agriculture and tourism, but these can be severely undermined by recurring violence,” Abdulrazaq added.

He praised Governor Mutfwang’s leadership during this challenging period, affirming the NGF’s solidarity with the state.

Responding, Governor Mutfwang thanked the NGF delegation for their visit and expressed the collective grief of the people of Plateau.

“The entire state is mourning. The scale of devastation is painful, but we are committed to restoring lasting peace,” Mutfwang said.

He emphasized that the attacks, though unexpected, would not derail his administration’s pursuit of peace and stability. He also urged the federal government to enhance national security, stressing that what happened in Plateau could happen anywhere in the country.

The NGF delegation included Governors Babagana Zulum (Borno), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), and the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Emmanuel Akabe.
