 Plateau State – April 17, 2025

Hon. Komsol Alphonsus Longgap, former member of the House of Representatives representing Shendam/Quan’pan/Mikang Federal Constituency, has publicly declared his support for Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, amid ongoing security challenges facing the state.

In a statement released on Thursday 17th, Longgap expressed deep concern over the persistent violence, displacement, and unrest affecting communities across the state. He called for unity and collaboration among all stakeholders, regardless of political affiliations, to address the growing insecurity.

“This is a time for unity, not division,” Longgap said. “While we may belong to different political platforms, I believe strongly that the safety, peace, and welfare of our people must always come first.”

He commended Governor Mutfwang for what he described as courage and resilience in responding to the crisis and pledged his unrelenting support for efforts aimed at restoring peace in Plateau.

“I fully recognize the weight of leadership in times like these,” he said, assuring the governor of his readiness to support any initiative geared toward lasting peace.

Longgap also urged political, religious, and traditional leaders to set aside differences and work together to protect the future of Plateau State.

“My prayers remain with all affected families,” he added. “Together, we will overcome. Plateau will rise again.”

The former lawmaker’s message comes amid renewed calls for collective action to address insecurity in parts of the North Central state.
