
Plateau state Governor Simon Lalong has granted state pardon to seven inmates serving various jail terms in some prisons in the state.
This is in the exercise of the powers Conferred on the governor under section 212 of the constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
Governor Lalong took the decision after consultation with the state advisory council on prerogative of mercy.
State Commissioner of Information and Communication Yakubu Dati in a statement in Jos, listed those granted pardon by Governor Lalong include Samson Jonah, Dung Mwankon and Vincnet Bulus.
Others are Hosea pokyes, and
Maxwell Idi.
The Commissioner said Yakubu Yohana and Victor Bakyil who were sentenced to twenty years now have their sentences reduced to ten years each.
The crimes of those pardoned included attempted robbery, criminal conspiracy, possession of fire arms, theft and culpable homicide.
Governor Lalong implored those pardoned to turn a new leave and make useful contribution to society.
