APC Declares Dachung Musa Bagos Winner of Jos East/South Federal Constituency Primary Rerun

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared Dachung Musa Bagos winner of its primary election for the Jos East/South Federal Constituency, returning him as the party’s candidate for the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.

The Chairman of the Rerun Electoral Committee, Hon. Karu Simon Elisha, announced the result on Thursday, October 29, 2026, after collating the results of the rerun election conducted across 11 wards in Jos East and Jos South Local Government Areas of Plateau State.

According to the committee, Bagos polled 5,523 votes in the rerun election, while Esther Beatrice Damboyi scored 1,332 votes. Other aspirants recorded the following results: Ajiji Arum, one vote; Abok Ayuba, one vote; Ajang Alfred, one vote; Florence D. Young, zero votes; and Rebecca Hadar Sambu, zero votes.

In the final collation, which combined the rerun results with those of the previously conducted primary election, Bagos emerged with the highest number of votes, with the committee announcing a total of 12,181 votes for him.

Other candidates recorded the following cumulative results: Esther Beatrice Damboyi, 2,495 votes; Ajiji Arum, 169 votes; Abok Ayuba, 1,121 votes; Ajang Alfred, 95 votes; Florence D. Young, zero votes; and Rebecca Hadar Sambu, 56 votes.

Declaring the outcome, Elisha said the committee, acting under the authority of the APC National Chairman, recognised Bagos as the party’s candidate for the Jos East/South Federal Constituency in the 2027 National Assembly elections and declared him duly returned.

The rerun followed a High Court order directing the APC to repeat its primary election in 11 wards of the constituency. The party had earlier said the exercise was intended to ensure transparency, fairness and compliance with electoral guidelines.

The declaration concludes the committee’s collation of the rerun and earlier primary election results, paving the way for the APC to proceed with its preparations for the 2027 House of Representatives election.
