Senator Ned Nwoko has opened up about his experience during the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries, raising concerns over alleged internal party agreements and the conduct of the election process.

Speaking during a television interview on Prime Time, Nwoko said several individuals who defected into the APC were given assurances of inclusion in the party’s leadership structure and government appointments by the then national chairman.

According to the senator, discussions were expected to be held on restructuring the party and implementing a power-sharing arrangement among stakeholders.

He claimed that assurances were made that the state executive would be dissolved and nominations carried out in a manner that would give members of the old APC a stake in the emerging government structure.

Nwoko, however, alleged that the promises were never fulfilled.

The senator also disclosed that prior to joining the APC, he had been personally assured of an automatic ticket, which he said played a major role in his decision to defect to the party.

He expressed disappointment that he was eventually subjected to the regular competitive primary process, describing the development as a departure from the initial understanding reached before his defection.

On the outcome of the primaries, Nwoko insisted that he had evidence showing he won in 98 wards during the exercise.

He dismissed claims challenging his performance in the primaries, alleging that his opponent, Ifeanyi Okowa, focused only on alleged irregularities in one ward while ignoring results from other areas where he claimed to have secured victory.

The senator’s remarks come amid ongoing discussions and reactions surrounding the APC primaries in Delta State and internal party dynamics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
