Mutfwang Emerges 2026 Leadership Newspaper Governor of the Year

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has been named the LEADERSHIP Newspaper Governor of the Year 2026 in recognition of his administration’s leadership and development efforts in the state.

The award notification was presented to the governor at the Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, by the Vice Chairman of LEADERSHIP Group, Mike Okpere.

Okpere said the recognition followed an assessment of the policies, programmes and impact of the governor’s administration on the people of Plateau State.

He cited areas including infrastructure renewal, security, SME development, transportation, job creation, agriculture, tourism and technology.

According to him, the award is reserved for governors who demonstrate what LEADERSHIP considers exceptional leadership and measurable commitment to the development of their states.

Also speaking, the Group Managing Director of LEADERSHIP Group, Muazu Elazeh, said Mutfwang’s recognition reflected his administration’s efforts in infrastructure development, economic transformation and peacebuilding amid security challenges in Plateau State.

Elazeh said the annual LEADERSHIP awards are designed to recognise Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in various fields and encourage them to sustain their contributions.

Responding, Governor Mutfwang described the recognition as a great honour and a call to greater service.

He commended the management of LEADERSHIP Newspapers for sustaining the legacy of its late founder, Sam Nda-Isaiah, whom he said he knew personally during his years in Kaduna.

The governor also urged the newspaper to continue upholding professionalism and responsible journalism, assuring the organisation of the Plateau State Government’s continued partnership.

Mutfwang said the award would strengthen his administration’s determination to work harder for the people, stressing that governance requires sustained commitment.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to investment in infrastructure, human capital, security and economic development, with the goal of improving the quality of life of citizens across Plateau State.
