A woman identified as Oluwasola Victoria Adebayo has died after reportedly collapsing while waiting for her child writing the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Ondo State.

The incident occurred on Monday, April 20, 2026, at a centre in Ilara-Mokin Junction, Ifedore Local Government Area. The deceased was said to have accompanied her child to the examination venue when she suddenly became unwell shortly after arrival.

Eyewitnesses said she complained of weakness before collapsing unexpectedly. Efforts by sympathisers at the scene to revive her were unsuccessful, and she was confirmed dead shortly after.

Her child was reportedly inside the examination hall at the time of the incident and was unaware of the development.

A resident, who identified the deceased as “Mummy Ayo,” said she had earlier mentioned plans to accompany her child to the exam centre that morning.

The incident drew a crowd of shocked onlookers, many of whom expressed sadness over the sudden loss.

Confirming the development, the spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, described the incident as unfortunate. He said the family had been contacted and the remains released to a relative, Mr Apapa Olamilekan, who identified himself as the deceased’s son and an officer of the Nigeria Legion in Akure.
