Suspected kidnappers have abducted a young man identified as Nanmwa Turfa in Plateau State.
Turfa was reportedly kidnapped while returning home from Bokkos Local Government Area after sitting for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.
Sources said the abductors initially demanded a ransom of N20 million for his release. However, separate security reports indicated that another abducted victim in the same area may have been linked to the incident, with a reported ransom demand of N1 million, creating uncertainty over the exact details.
Meanwhile, troops under Sector 5 of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have launched a search-and-rescue operation following the abduction in Bokkos.
According to security sources, the incident occurred around 5:00 a.m. on April 20 at Maiduna village, where armed men reportedly took the victim to an unknown destination.
Troops, in collaboration with other security agencies, were said to have responded swiftly and conducted operations within the area, but had yet to establish contact with the kidnappers.
Security presence has since been reinforced in the community as efforts continue to locate the victim and secure his release.
