Man remanded for allegedly raping neighbour’s 4-year-old daughter

A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ikeja, Lagos State, on Monday ordered
that a 28-year-old man, Yakubu Afonla, who allegedly defiled a
neighbour’s four-year-old daughter, be remanded in Ikoyi Custodial
Centre.

Yakubu Afonla was charged with defilement after he allegedly inserted
his penis inside the little girl’s vagina. The incident reportedly
occured on February 11, 2020, at Balogun street, Iju Ishaga, Lagos.

After listening to the charge against him, Afonla pleaded not guilty.

Chief Magistrate Olufunke Sule-Amzat gave the order for the suspect
to be remanded in Ikoyi Custodial Centre pending when the case would be
filed at the Ikeja Special and Sexual Offences Court.

Sule-Amzat adjourned the case until May 21.
