Gunmen suspected to be Fulani militias have killed a couple and another woman in Tukur village in Mangu Halle, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The attack reportedly occurred on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
The victims were identified as Mr. Titus Brigade (55), Mrs. Rahab Titus (45), and Mrs. Laitu Pius (43). Their burial was conducted on Monday, June 1, 2026.
The incident was confirmed in a statement issued by Tubwot Joël Sunday, Director of Public Affairs of the Mwaghavul Youth Movement.
The group also confirmed that a 12-year-old girl, Miss Favour Pius, survived the attack and is currently receiving medical treatment at a health facility.
The statement described the attack as part of a disturbing pattern of violence in the area, noting that it comes shortly after another reported incident in Foron, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, where six persons were allegedly killed.
According to the Mwaghavul Youth Movement, the recurring attacks have continued to heighten insecurity and fear among residents, warning that the cycle of violence is becoming increasingly unsustainable.
The group also alleged that inflammatory narratives circulating on social media have contributed to tensions in the region, calling for an end to hate speech and misinformation capable of worsening communal divisions.
It urged security agencies to thoroughly investigate the attacks, apprehend those responsible, and ensure justice is served.
The youth group stressed that no grievance can justify the killing of innocent civilians, adding that perpetrators must be held accountable to restore public confidence.
They also called on residents to reject divisive propaganda and promote peace, justice, and mutual coexistence among communities.
The statement further expressed solidarity with the bereaved families, praying for the repose of the deceased and a speedy recovery for the injured survivor.
