Pep Guardiola has announced that he will be leaving Manchester City, saying he is “running out of energy” after ten years at the helm.

Guardiola made the remarks while addressing reporters, drawing parallels with former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp, who stepped down in the summer of 2024.

“I feel the same way as when Jurgen Klopp left,” he said. “My energy is running low. I think I won’t have the stamina needed for a game every three days, to compete for titles, and to stand in front of the players every day.”

He added that the demands of the job had taken a toll over the years, noting the relentless cycle of high-pressure fixtures and elite competition.

“Ten years have passed. This job has been done every three days for a very long time—Madrid, Anfield, Selhurst Park. I have to go on with my life now,” he said.

Guardiola stressed that his decision was not about the quality of the squad, praising the current Manchester City players and suggesting the club needed “fresh energy” to continue its success.

“The club needs a new manager, in my opinion. We have these amazing players. Write a new chapter,” he added.
