The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Edo State Command, has deployed 1,542 personnel across the state ahead of the 2026 Eid al-Kabir celebrations to ensure a peaceful and incident-free festive period.
Commandant Saidi Akintayo disclosed the deployment, noting that officers have been drawn from various specialised units, including tactical teams, the armed squad, counter-terrorism, intelligence and investigation, agro rangers, and operations departments.
According to him, the personnel have been strategically positioned across all three senatorial districts of Edo State, with coverage extended to Eid prayer grounds, markets, recreation centres, highways, motor parks, places of worship, and other identified vulnerable locations.
He added that senior officers have been directed to intensify patrols, surveillance operations, and intelligence gathering to prevent any breakdown of law and order during the festivities.
Akintayo warned criminal elements to steer clear of the state, stressing that security agencies are fully prepared to respond to any threats to public peace.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest security agencies.
The commandant commended Governor Monday Okpebholo for his continued support for security operations in the state, while calling on Muslims to embrace the values of peace, sacrifice, tolerance, unity, and love associated with the Eid al-Kabir season.
