Barely five days after the dissolution of his cabinet, Governor Simon
Lalong of Plateau State, on Tuesday forwarded three names as
commissioner nominees to the State House of Assembly for confirmation.
This was contained in a letter read by the Speaker of the House, RT. Hon. Peter Azi, at plenary in Jos.
Lalong said the action was in accordance with section 195 of the 1999 constitution as amended.
The nominees are Mr Yakubu Datti, Mr Luka Madaki and Mr Chris Ahmadu.
“Mr Speaker, in accordance with section 195, sub-section 3 of the
1999 constitution as amended, I hereby forward names of three
commissioner nominees for your consideration,” he said.
The House unanimously agreed to invite the nominees for screening on February 14, 2018.
It would be recalled that the governor had on February 8, 2018,
dissolved his entire cabinet who had been in office for over 25 months.
