The association described the appointment as a demonstration of the Speaker’s love for the Goemai nation and his commitment to inclusiveness, irrespective of ethnic, religious or social differences.
President of the association, Nna Christiana Daboer, made the remarks when she led members on a solidarity visit to the residence of the newly appointed Press Secretary at Landura Crescent, Tudun Wada, Jos.
Daboer said the visit was to celebrate Eplong’s elevation and identify with him over the recognition, which she described as a source of pride to the Goemai people.
She praised Speaker Daniel for what she called his non-discriminatory leadership style, noting that he recognises individuals based on their humanity and contributions rather than their background.
The association also pledged continued prayers, loyalty and support for the Speaker, expressing optimism for a successful completion of his leadership of the 10th Assembly.
In his remarks, the Speaker’s Chief of Staff, Nicholas Homsun, assured the delegation that Eplong was performing well in the Assembly and discharging his responsibilities professionally.
Responding, Eplong expressed appreciation to the women for the visit, describing the appointment as more than a personal achievement but a recognition of the entire Goemai nation.
He said the Speaker’s gesture had further demonstrated his regard for the Goemai people and urged them to continue supporting and praying for the Speaker and the 10th Assembly.
The Press Secretary, who was accompanied by his wife, Anna, described his appointment as divinely ordained and solicited prayers for success in his new responsibility.
Also speaking, the President of the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), Plateau State Chapter, Celina Ali, described Eplong as a hardworking and humble individual, wishing him success in his new assignment.
The visit featured special prayers for Eplong and his family, as well as traditional Goemai greetings.
