President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to remain grateful to God despite the economic hardship caused by the recent increase in petrol pump prices.

Speaking on Friday, April 10, during a visit to Bayelsa State, President Tinubu acknowledged the hardship being experienced across the country following the spike in fuel prices, but encouraged citizens to maintain a positive outlook.

He said Nigerians were still better off compared to some other African countries facing similar or worse economic challenges.

“It is very important that we are honest with our people. Yes, I hear you from various angles of the economy. The fuel price is biting hard, but look around, let us thank God together, that you are better off,” he said.

“Listen to them in Kenya and other African countries and what they are going through. We will not look back. We will continue to find ways to ameliorate the sufferings of the vulnerable,” he added.

The President’s remarks come amid ongoing public debate over rising living costs and the impact of fuel subsidy removal and price adjustments on households and businesses across the country.
