Nigerian Breweries Plc has confirmed that a fire outbreak at a leased warehouse in Aba, Abia State, was successfully contained without any casualties or injuries.
The incident, which occurred on Thursday, affected a facility used for storing empty plastic crates and reportedly spread to nearby properties close to the Nigerian Railway station, causing panic among residents.
Emergency responders, including the Abia State Fire Service, later brought the situation under control, preventing further damage to surrounding buildings. While the cause of the fire remains unknown, the Abia State Government said it is gathering relevant information on the incident.
In a statement, Ferdinand Ekeoma, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Alex Otti, urged the public to disregard circulating videos being presented as live footage of the incident.
He confirmed that the fire, which lasted for several hours, was eventually contained by emergency services and supporting agencies.
