Former presidential spokesperson Femi Fani-Kayode has announced a ceasefire in his recent war of words with media entrepreneur Dele Momodu, bringing an end to their heated public exchange.
The dispute between the two prominent figures escalated over the past few days following comments made by Momodu during an appearance on Politics Today on Channels Television, where he criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and described his administration as dictatorial.
Fani-Kayode responded with a strongly worded and widely circulated social media post, which was met with an equally sharp rebuttal from Momodu, as both men traded insults in a public spat that drew widespread attention.
However, in a post shared on his 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) account, Fani-Kayode disclosed that respected leaders had intervened, leading to a truce between both parties.
“As a consequence of the intervention of numerous highly respected leaders for whom I have the greatest admiration, a ceasefire between myself and my friend and brother Bobby Dee is now in place,” he wrote.
He added that both sides had agreed to refrain from further public comments about each other, expressing hope that the ceasefire would hold.
“I will make no more comments about him and hopefully he will do same. We are both Nigerians and we share common values even though we disagree politically,” he stated.
Fani-Kayode also acknowledged the hurtful nature of the exchanges and expressed optimism that both men could move forward peacefully.
The development signals a de-escalation of tensions between the two figures, who, despite their political differences, have long been associated within Nigeria’s media and political landscape.
