You Buy House In Prime Location, Only To Get Trapped Indoors – Enioluwa Laments

Social media influencer Enioluwa Adeoluwa has appealed to the Lagos State Government to take decisive action against the city’s recurring flooding, which has disrupted daily life in many prime locations.

In a post on X, Enioluwa lamented that despite residents working hard to afford homes in high-value areas, they remain trapped indoors whenever heavy rains occur because surrounding streets are quickly submerged.

“In this part of the world, money doesn’t guarantee comfort. You hustle hard, buy a house in what’s called a prime location, yet the moment it rains, you’re trapped indoors because everywhere outside is flooded,” he wrote.

His remarks followed days of rainfall that left major communities including Maryland, Lekki, Ogba, Ikorodu, Ago Palace Way, Apple Junction, and Mile 2 under water.

Responding to the public outcry, the Lagos State Government apologised to residents, citing factors such as heavy rainfall, tidal lock, and illegal structures obstructing drainage systems.

Commissioner for the Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, added that technical issues in the city’s drainage network also contribute to the flooding, while illegal construction on floodplains and indiscriminate waste dumping continue to worsen the situation.
