An Edo-based pastor, Caleb Adavize Philip, who was kidnapped alongside his wife and sister, has recounted the traumatic experience they endured in captivity after their eventual release.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, June 11, 2026, he shared photographs of himself, his wife, and his sister receiving medical attention in a hospital following their rescue.
Philip said the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N50 million for their release, adding that the period in captivity was marked by severe hardship and psychological trauma.
He described the experience as “days of fear, torture, insect bites, constant threats to life, and forced trekking under harsh weather conditions.”
“I can’t forget this in a hurry, how we were kidnapped, myself, wife and sis for days and they were demanding for 50 million naira,” he wrote.
He added that the ordeal involved harsh treatment, long walks under the sun and rain, and continuous threats from armed abductors.
“The psychological trauma, the fear, the torture, rain, sun, insect bites, the trekking, the threat to life with ammunition, the huge amount being paid and many more. Lord save our nation. Thank you Jesus for our life,” he added.
The victims have since regained their freedom and are currently receiving medical care and recovery support.
