David Alaba is expected to leave Real Madrid as a free agent when his current contract expires, according to transfer reports.
The Austrian international, who joined the Spanish giants after a successful spell in Germany, is nearing the final stage of his deal, with indications that he will not extend his stay at the club.
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported on Friday that Alaba is set to depart the club, adding that several teams have already shown interest in securing his signature ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
“David Alaba, expected to leave Real Madrid as a free agent, as reported since November. Several clubs already approached the Austrian defender, out of contract at Real Madrid,” Romano wrote.
Alaba began his professional career at Bayern Munich, where he spent over a decade and established himself as one of Europe’s top defenders. During his time in Germany, he won multiple Bundesliga titles as well as two UEFA Champions League trophies in 2013 and 2020.
He joined Real Madrid in 2021 on a free transfer and quickly became an important figure in the club’s defensive line.
His potential departure is expected to spark interest from top European clubs when the transfer window opens.
