The Nigerian Army has decorated 13 senior officers with new ranks at the 3 Division headquarters in Rukuba, near Jos.
The ceremony was presided over by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Folunsho Oyinlola, who charged the newly promoted officers to demonstrate leadership, discipline, and commitment in their new roles.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Victor Olukoya, on Thursday in Plateau State.
According to the statement, the decorated officers included nine lieutenant colonels and four lieutenants.
Addressing the officers, Maj.-Gen. Oyinlola urged them to embrace inclusive leadership and ensure effective supervision of their responsibilities.
“You must lead by example, remain steadfast in the discharge of your duties, and uphold the high standards that earned your elevation,” he said.
He added that the new ranks come with increased responsibilities, requiring strategic leadership and sound decision-making.
“The demands of your new ranks require a seamless transition into strategic leadership and sound executive decision-making. You must be deliberate, thoughtful, and responsible,” he stated.
The GOC also appreciated the families of the officers for their support throughout their careers.
Responding on behalf of the newly promoted officers, Yusuf Aliyu expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff for approving their promotion.
He also commended the GOC for his leadership and support, assuring that the officers would justify the confidence reposed in them and strive to exceed expectations in their new ranks.
