Participation, Dialogue and Advocacy Africa (CYPA Africa) Organized a one day consultative dialogue on Youth,
Security and Governance in Plateau State. On Thursday 15th September 2016. at Crest hotel Jos.
CONSULTATIVE DIALOGUE CONFERENCE ON YOUTH, SECURITY AND GOVERNANCE: CHATTING THE WAY FORWARD IN PLATEAU STATE
The conference was organized to proffer solutions to the rising insecurity,
violence and high crime rate amongst young people in Plateau State.
It was to also further chat the way forward for more youth inclusion in
decision and policy making that directly affects them in governance
process of the state….
The Country Director CYPA Africa, Amb. Chris Iyama Started with a welcome address and thanked all invited guests present, youth leaders and the general public.
The First Keynote Presentation was from the Director General Plateau State Peace Building Agency, Mr Joseph Lengmang.
The Lead presentation was by the Professor of Law Human Rights Lawyer, University of Jos, Chief Nnamdi Aduba, talking on Youths Security and Governance, Chatting a way forward in Plateau State.
The Commander Operation Safe Haven, Major General R.I Nicholas, was also present to give another Keynote Address. He reemphasized that the Mandate of the Military in the state is to restore peace and so far they have done more in reducing crime rate, further calling on youths to support the military as that will help them perform the role of protecting the entire citizenry.
After the keynote address, there were Questions from some Youth Leaders with response from the conference speakers. Anchored by Mc Legend.
The occasion Rounded off with a General Panel Discussion on ways to curb violence and high crime rate amongst young people on the plateau. The Commissioner for Youths and sports Development, Honorable Danladi Mang, led the panelist on this segment, with representations from the ministry for information, Commissioner for Special Duties, The Commander NSCDC.
There were Recommendations made at the end of the sessions.
