A group known as the Concerned Mikang Youth Vanguard (CYV) has criticized former House of Representatives member, Rt. Hon. George Edwards Daika, over his comments regarding the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Mikang State Assembly seat.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the group described Daika’s recent publication on the primary election as misleading and an attempt to distort facts surrounding the conduct and outcome of the exercise.

The youth group questioned Daika’s claim to political leadership in Mikang, arguing that leadership must be based on collective acceptance and not self-acclamation.

According to the statement, Daika has allegedly lost political relevance within his immediate constituency due to what the group described as his open alignment with a particular aspirant while publicly presenting himself as neutral.

The group further alleged that the former lawmaker failed to secure broad support within his ward during the APC primary election, insisting that this weakened his authority to speak on behalf of the wider Mikang constituency.

“It is important to state clearly that Rt. Hon. George Daika has practically lost relevance within his immediate political environment,” the statement read.

The CYV maintained that the outcome of the primary election in Daika’s ward reflected strong support for Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel, adding that many youths in the area openly expressed dissatisfaction with Daika’s political posture.

According to the group, Naanlong Daniel emerged victorious in three out of the four districts in the constituency, which it described as evidence of his widespread acceptance and political influence.

The group also dismissed claims that Daika was chased out by thugs during the primary election process, insisting that the incident was a reaction from local youths opposed to his political actions and alignment.

The statement further noted that while Daika previously served in the House of Representatives, several other respected political figures from Mikang, including Innocent Tirsel and former Speaker Moses Sule, have also held significant positions in the past.

It argued that current political realities in Mikang place Naanlong Daniel as a leading figure in the constituency based on his present influence and grassroots support.

The CYV also questioned Daika’s political loyalty to the APC, alleging that his actions appeared to fuel division within the party despite his appointment as an adviser to Governor Caleb Mutfwang on National Assembly matters.

The group urged the former lawmaker to refrain from what it described as outdated political tactics and public exaggeration capable of undermining his credibility.

The statement called on Daika to allow party structures and legitimate voices within Mikang to guide political processes, stressing that the constituency deserves unity, maturity, and respect for collective decisions.

The statement was signed by the Concerned Mikang Youth Vanguard (CYV).
