Veteran Nollywood actor Clem Ohameze has debunked social media claims that he is battling a stroke and has been abandoned by his children.
In a video released on Saturday, the 60-year-old actor described the viral Facebook post as false, malicious, and a deliberate attempt to tarnish his reputation.
The post alleged that Ohameze had been down with a stroke for over two decades and suggested that only his daughter cared for him after his sons allegedly abandoned him. It also contained fabricated quotes attributed to the actor.
Reacting, Ohameze said the words were entirely made up and urged the public to disregard them. He confirmed that he has already notified both the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate and bring the perpetrators to book.
“I have initiated a police case. This is a cybercrime. It has cost me a lot to come this far in life, and I will not allow someone to rubbish me for cheap popularity or social media traffic,” he said.
The actor also expressed dismay over recurring false reports about him, recalling that he had once been rumored dead. He lamented the distress such fake news causes his family, particularly his children.
“Why don’t you call and confirm before posting? Now you have succeeded in smearing my name all over the world,” he said.
