Nollywood actress Chika Ike marked her 40th birthday in a uniquely meaningful way, using the occasion to empower 40 less privileged women through her “Chika 40 Smiles” initiative.
Expressing gratitude for life and success, Ike shared on social media that she wanted her milestone birthday to be more than a lavish celebration.
“When I thought about celebrating my 40th birthday, so many ideas came to mind and from my amazing team. But this time, I wanted something more than just lavish… I wanted something truly memorable and impactful,” she wrote.
The actress explained that the initiative’s theme, Chika40Smiles, was inspired by her desire to empower 40 women and make them smile. Reflecting on her journey into motherhood and this new season of life, Ike emphasized the importance of celebrating in a way that gives back to others.
“I’m so thankful that I got to do this exactly how I envisioned it, actually, it turned out even better than I imagined! We laughed, cried, prayed, danced, and celebrated together. This was the best birthday celebration I’ve ever had because it meant so much more.”
She also credited her mother for inspiring the initiative:
“It was inspired by my mum, by all that she gave and sacrificed for me. Now that I’m a mum myself, I can deeply relate.”
