The Central Planning and Coordinating Committee for the Coronation of the Aren Eggon has announced that the Governor of Nasarawa State, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule, has approved Saturday, June 13, 2026, for the official presentation of the Staff of Office to the Aren Eggon, His Royal Highness, Honourable Justice Ahmed Ubangari Alaku I, OFR, CJ (Rtd).
According to a press release issued by the committee, the event will formally usher in the reign of Justice Ahmed Ubangari Alaku I as the paramount ruler of the Eggon nation and one of the foremost traditional rulers in Nasarawa State.
The statement recalled that Justice Ubangari emerged as Aren Eggon following his selection by the Eggon kingmakers on May 5, 2023.

Before ascending the throne, he served as the Wazirin Eggon during the reign of the late Aren Eggon, HRH Dr. Bala Abaine Angbazo (MFR, JP), who died on July 13, 2022.
The committee described the forthcoming coronation as historically significant, noting that it would be the first presentation of a Staff of Office to an Aren Eggon in more than four decades.
It stated that the last ceremony of its kind took place on February 12, 1983, when the then Governor of Plateau State, Chief Solomon Lar, presented the Staff of Office to the late Dr. Bala Abaine Angbazo.
The statement further noted that the Aren Eggon stool was upgraded to a First Class status on June 1, 1982, by the Plateau State Government.
According to the committee, the coronation ceremony represents not only a celebration of the cultural heritage and identity of the Eggon people but also a historic milestone for Eggon communities within and outside Nigeria.
The committee called on Eggon sons and daughters, traditional rulers, political leaders, stakeholders, associates, and friends of the Eggon nation to participate in the event.
It added that activities lined up for the coronation would showcase the rich cultural heritage, unity, and traditions of the Eggon people while urging all guests and supporters to cooperate with authorities to ensure a peaceful and successful ceremony.
The statement was signed by the Chairman of the Central Planning and Coordinating Committee, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, and the Alternate Chairman, Alhaji Isiyaku Abdullahi, Galadiman Eggon.
