Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has revealed that the largest amount of money he ever made within a short period was approximately $10 billion in the first quarter of a year.

Dangote made the disclosure during an interview with James Dumoulin of The School of Hard Knocks, where he spoke about his business journey, wealth, and legacy.

Responding to a question about the highest amount of money he had ever earned in a single year, the billionaire businessman pointed instead to a remarkable three-month period.

“First quarter, we did about $10 billion,” Dangote said.

The founder of the Dangote Group was also asked about his net worth and whether he is worth the estimated $38 billion attributed to him by Forbes.

In response, Dangote suggested that the figure may not fully reflect the value of his holdings, noting that some of his businesses are privately owned and not publicly listed.

He implied that his actual wealth could be higher than publicly reported estimates.

Speaking on how he hopes history will remember him, Dangote said his greatest ambition goes beyond personal wealth.

“I want to be remembered as somebody who industrialised Africa,” he said.

Dangote is widely regarded as one of Africa’s most influential entrepreneurs, with investments spanning cement, sugar, salt, fertiliser, oil refining, and other sectors across the continent.
