A frontline governorship aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress in Plateau State, Jude Eli Dakur, has condemned the recent attacks and killings in rural communities in Bassa, Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas, describing the incidents as unfortunate and unacceptable.

Dakur made the remarks during an engagement with Local Government, Ward and Unit Executives of the ADC in Mangu Local Government Area shortly after attending the one-year remembrance service of late Sonni Gwanle Tyoden at RCC Pushit.

The governorship hopeful called on security agencies to intensify efforts towards protecting vulnerable communities and restoring lasting peace across affected areas of Plateau State.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could help prevent further attacks and improve security in rural communities.

Dakur, however, expressed confidence in the growing strength of the ADC across Plateau State, declaring that the party was determined to take over the Government House in the 2027 general elections.

According to him, the party was steadily building strong grassroots structures across the state and positioning itself as a credible alternative capable of providing purposeful leadership for the people.

“The ADC remains committed to offering credible leadership capable of addressing the challenges confronting Plateau State. We are determined to build a united platform that will bring positive change to the people,” he said.

He charged party members to remain united, focused and committed towards strengthening the party ahead of the elections, stressing that loyalty, cooperation and collective responsibility would be critical to achieving victory at the polls.

Dakur further pledged to work towards ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach the people while prioritising peace, security and development across communities affected by insecurity and other social challenges.

Speaking on the life and legacy of the late Prof. Tyoden, Dakur described the former deputy governor as a man of wisdom, integrity and selfless service whose contributions to Plateau State and Nigeria would continue to be remembered.

He noted that the late academic and statesman dedicated his life to education, leadership, peacebuilding and the advancement of humanity.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the ADC in Mangu Local Government Area, Samaila Kwache, commended Dakur for his commitment to the growth and expansion of the party in Plateau State.

Kwache assured the governorship aspirant of the support and solidarity of ADC members in Mangu and called on party faithful to remain committed to building a stronger and more united party ahead of future elections.

The remembrance service attracted political leaders, party faithful, community stakeholders and well-wishers who gathered to honour the late Prof. Tyoden and reflect on his legacies of service and leadership.
