A 32-year-old man identified as Fwangmun Karimu has been killed in an attack at Sabon Gari village in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident occurred at about 10:15 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2026, after troops of Sector 8, Operation Hakorin Damisa, responded to a report of an attack in the community.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the troops arrived at the scene and found Karimu had been shot dead by suspected Fulani militias who allegedly entered the community from the Mangu Halle axis.
The attackers reportedly used heavy rainfall to conceal their movement before fleeing the area.
Karimu was subsequently buried according to local customs.
Security forces have launched efforts to track down those responsible, while troops continue to maintain a presence in the area to prevent further attacks.
The incident comes amid renewed security concerns in parts of Plateau State, with communities in several local government areas experiencing attacks and heightened security operations.
