A 12-year-old girl in Lagos State has reportedly identified her neighbour as the man who allegedly sexually assaulted her despite wearing a face mask to conceal his identity.
The girl’s lawyer, Toyin Ndidi Taiwo, disclosed the development in a Facebook post after appearing in court with the child on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
According to the lawyer, the suspect had deliberately covered his face during the alleged attack, but the victim recognised a distinctive scar on his hand.
Taiwo said the identifying feature helped investigators link the suspect to the alleged offence.
She also commended the Gender Unit of the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, for what she described as diligent investigation of the case.
The lawyer did not disclose the identity of the suspect or provide further details about the alleged incident.
The case is expected to proceed through the appropriate legal process.
