Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, have arrested four suspected Boko Haram terrorists during a night operation in Yobe State, while 11 others surrendered to the military between September 15 and 22, 2026.
The Acting Military Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Captain Mohammed Goni, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
According to him, troops of the 27 Task Force Brigade, working with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, ambushed suspected terrorists east of Azare village in Gujba Local Government Area at about 11pm on September 21.
The troops engaged the group in a gun battle before arresting four suspects during a subsequent search of the area. The military said blood traces found at the scene suggested that some fleeing terrorists may have been injured.
Items recovered included four bicycles, groceries, a sheep and expended 7.62mm ammunition cases. The suspects remain in military custody for further investigation.
In a related operation, troops also arrested nine suspected drug dealers during a patrol in Buni Yadi, Gujba LGA, on September 19.
The suspects were reportedly found with suspected illicit drugs and cannabis, two mobile phones and N85,900. They were subsequently handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for further investigation.
The military said the 11 terrorist surrenders recorded during the period, alongside the arrests and recovery of logistics items, reflected the impact of sustained operations against terrorist networks in the North-East.
