The Berom Sports Development Association (BESDA) officially inaugurated its sports development program, focusing on nurturing the youth of the Berom tribal group in Plateau state.
Geoffrey Bottson, the President of Berom Sports Development Association, emphasized the program’s mission to create an unparalleled atmosphere contributing to peacebuilding and recreational development among the Berom people, particularly the youth in Plateau State.
Recognizing the deep interest of the youth in sporting activities, Bottson outlined the initiative’s goals of providing enhanced training opportunities, mentors, coaches, and facilities. The program commenced with a general exhibition game, slated to evolve into different age grades, fostering holistic sports development within Plateau state and globally, with outreach plans extending beyond the Berom tribal group in the future.
Bottson announced partnerships with various sports institutions, facilitating opportunities for youths to benefit from sports scholarships in schools within and outside Nigeria.
Former Nigerian International, Sambo Choji MON, who graced the official kickoff at the Jos City Park Football Field today, expressed his support for the initiative. Choji lauded the Berom Sports Development Association for its brilliant idea, emphasizing the positive impact it would have on sports development in Plateau and Nigeria as a whole.
“Sports is a key to peacebuilding and unity, and football, in particular, brings people together. Stakeholders should rally behind and support this initiative,” Choji emphasized.
The Berom Sports Development Association’s ambitious program is poised to not only elevate sports within Plateau state but also make meaningful contributions to the broader global sports community, fostering unity and development through sports.
