Hundreds of members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and
oppositions, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Social Democratic Party,
SDP, and others today left their parties and joined the Action
Democratic Party, ADP, as the party’s governorship candidate, Brigadier
General Jon Temlong (Rtd) takes campaign to Mabudi, the headquarters of
Langtang South Local Government Area of Plateau state.
The decampees were received at Model Science Primary School, Mabudi,
Langtang South LGA by Temlong and the leadership of ADP in the state.
The decampees said that they were leaving their former parties
because of the unlimited opportunities that ADP provides for its
members.
The campaign team had earlier paid homage to Chief Paul B. Galle, the Ponzhi Mabudi.
At the palace of the Ponzhi Mabudi, Temlong said, “We are here to pay
homage and seek for royal blessings and to inform you of our mission.
“We are in your land to seek your support and that of your people.
The mission we have for the people is to put Plateau first and to give
Plateau security. We will run government of the people and by the
people. Langtang South suppose to be food basket of Plateau state
through extensive mechanised farming. Langtang South is now a shadow of
itself. We will restore the status of Langtang South as food basket of
Plateau and Nigeria.”
The governorship candidate lamented lack of government presence in
Mabudi. “Here you drink water with animals. Those who are seeking for
your mandate refused to construct dams. PDP was here for 16 years. No
potable water to drink. APC has been here for 4 years, nothing. Don’t
deceive yourselves.”
In his response, the Ponzhi Mabudi said that he was impressed. “We
know you are on a mission. You are a disciplined man. You know the good
and the bad of a human being. We know you will improve security and stop
the killings. You have our blessings.”
The campaign team earlier visited His Royal Highness, Donald Puntel,
the Long Thel of Tunkus in Mikang Local Government Area of the state
where he intimated the royal father of his mission for the state.
The Long Thel who is the President of Mikang Local Government Area
Traditional Chiefdom said he was pleased to receive the team and wish
the candidate well.
At the District office, Tunkus, Mikang LGA where Temlong addressed
the crowd, Temlong said he has identified lack of water, light,
fertilizer, hospital, networks among others as the problems facing
communities in the LGA and that his government would give them priority.
He said that his government would appoint 50% women and youths to his
cabinet.
