A Mobile Police Personnel was Saturday shot dead near Kura
Falls in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State, reports say.
The Officer whose identity is yet to be ascertained was
said to be returning from Anquil village at about 9 pm, where he’d gone
to drop his girlfriend when he was attacked by an unknown gunman.
A native of the community believed to be fiancé to the
Police Officer’s supposed girlfriend is suspected to have masterminded
the attack.
He was said to have commenced the fulfilment of traditional marriage rites with the lady.
It is not however clear if the young man has been apprehended.
A day earlier however, one Mr. Jelmang Daniel was
reportedly shot dead in Kumben village of Kombun District in Plateau
State’s Mangu Local Government Area.
Mr. Daniel was said to have been killed by cattle rustlers believed to be neighboring herdsmen.
About 20 cattle were carted away with from different feedlots in the village by the armed rustlers.
Youths from the community were however said to have
recovered the cattle on Saturday from some herdsmen settlements
following a tipoff.
Efforts to get security personnel to facilitate the
recovery proved abortive when the youths took the challenge upon
themselves, a source in the village said.
Meanwhile, a boy believed to be 15 years old was Sunday
shot dead in a road ambush near Nyarwai village od Fan District, B/Ladi L
G A.
The boy was said to have been returning from a birthday party in Nafan village along with two others.
He was however the only one killed as the two others escaped unhurt.
Officials have not commented on any of these incidences yet.
