The demise of Dr Wummen Bako has thrown Plateau into a deep sense of
mourning and grief. The promising young man’s life was cut short by a
lingering illness, which incapacitated him in the last few months.

gathered that the Governor’s late brother died around 1:30 am at the
Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), but his remains were later
moved to the Nigerian Airforce hospital in Jos.
Until his
death, Wumen was a certified accountant and a lecturer with the faculty
of Management Science at the University of Jos.
He was a
fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) and
is survived by his wife, Evelyn Wumen Bako and four children
He is fondly remembered as a mentor, philanthropist and great youth
strategist. Testimonies of his philanthropy and ethos have continued to
pour in, with many paying glowing tribute to his life – particularly
with regards his efforts at
- Advocating good governance and accountability.
- mentoring of several Plateau youths. Particular some of the leaders within key youth organisations in Plateau.
- Advising the rescue government on key aspects of its manifesto – including service delivery, appointments etc
- Other philanthropic gestures to do with internally displaced people (IDPs) etc.
- bringing succour and comfort to the family of Late Golmetne Gofwen (a social media commentator who passed on 2 years ago)
