Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction led by Nyesom Wike, Mao Ohuabunwa, has described the party’s ongoing electronic membership registration as a step in the right direction.
Ohuabunwa made the remark during the 107th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party, noting that the initiative demonstrates a commitment to modernization, transparency, and credibility in party administration.
He emphasized that a credible membership register remains the foundation of any serious political organization, adding that it promotes internal democracy, improves planning, and builds confidence among members and stakeholders.
The BoT chairman called on party members nationwide to actively participate in the process to ensure its success.
He further stressed the importance of unity as the party prepares for its forthcoming National Convention, urging members to approach key decisions with a spirit of compromise.
“As we move forward, the decisions we take today will shape not only the outcome of our forthcoming National Convention but also the future direction of our party. It is therefore important that we approach all matters before us with unity of purpose and a spirit of give and take,” he said.
On the issue of zoning, Ohuabunwa disclosed that recommendations from the Zoning Committee would soon be presented, urging members to consider them with fairness, equity, and the broader interest of party unity.
According to him, while no arrangement is perfect, the collective willingness of members to accommodate one another remains key to the party’s progress.
