A disturbing video circulating on social media has shown a man, alleged to be a pastor, flogging several children—some stripped naked—inside a church in the Eneka area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The footage, which has sparked outrage online, depicts the children, including toddlers, crying out in pain as they are beaten. A basin containing a red liquid resembling blood is seen in the background, further heightening public concern.
The identity of the man and the name of the church have not been independently verified.
In the video, a narrator alleges that the children may have been held unlawfully, suggesting possible abduction or detention. “For three days now, they bring these children. Only God knows if they kidnapped these children or whatever. I don’t know. This is supposed to be a church,” the narrator says.
The narrator also claims that residents initially assumed the gathering was a children’s camp but later realised it involved prolonged abuse. “They’ll flog these children, strip them naked, boys and girls alike… Some of the children already have marks on their bodies,” the voice continues.
The video has triggered widespread condemnation, with many Nigerians calling for immediate police action and the arrest of the alleged pastor. As of press time, authorities have not issued an official statement on the incident.
