Victor Osimhen could return sooner than expected from an arm injury, according to Okan Buruk. The Nigeria international sustained the injury during a UEFA Champions League match against Liverpool last month, which required surgery.
While Osimhen was initially expected to miss the upcoming Intercontinental Derby against Fenerbahçe on April 26, Buruk revealed that the striker is recovering faster than anticipated. The 27-year-old has resumed running drills under the supervision of physiotherapists.
Buruk noted that Osimhen is unlikely to feature in this weekend’s fixture against Kocaelispor, but could be available for the following week’s match against Gençlerbirliği. The coach also emphasized that the team might continue to exercise caution to ensure Osimhen is fully fit for the crucial derby clash with Fenerbahçe.
The potential early return of Osimhen is a major boost for Galatasaray, who recently defeated Göztepe 3-1 to extend their lead to four points at the top of the Süper Lig. With 12 league goals already this season, his presence could prove decisive as the title race reaches its final stages.
